Bernice Han

Bernice joined Insurance News in September 2014 after moving from Singapore, adding her strong research and reporting experience to our editorial team.

In Singapore she was at the forefront covering the major news events shaping the Asia-Pacific’s dynamic political and economic landscapes during her career with global wire agencies Dow Jones Newswires and Agence France-Presse.

Her assignments have included reporting on global conferences including the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders’ meetings, International Monetary Fund/World Bank meetings and Association of Southeast Asian Nations summits.

Bernice loves the excitement of breaking news and has worked through the night to provide field coverage for big stories like the 2003 SARS health epidemic in East Asia, cliff-hanger elections, political protests and six-party talks on North Korea’s nuclear program.

Even a 3am text message from a source about a looming corporate battle will get Bernice fired up, ready to punch out the breaking news from her laptop.

Some career highlights include live in-flight reporting from the A380 superjumbo’s first commercial flight from Singapore to Sydney in 2007, coverage of a Qantas A380’s emergency landing in Singapore in 2010 and establishing Dow Jones’ pulp and paper commodity news coverage.
